B.Ed Programs

Currently, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is offering a variety of B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) programs that cater to different specializations and durations. These programs are:

  1. B.Ed (4 Years) Secondary Teacher Education: This program prepares prospective teachers to teach at secondary and higher secondary levels. It includes a blend of core, foundation, professional, and specialization courses, and is equivalent to a master's degree.
  2. B.Ed (1.5 Years) ELM: This program is a specialization course offered within the larger scheme of the B.Ed 1.5 year program. It aims to provide academic opportunities to teachers, administrators, and master graduates in the field of teacher education.

 

  1. B.Ed (4 Years) SLM: This 4-year program prepares prospective teachers to teach at secondary and higher secondary levels, but with a focus on leadership in education. It also includes a blend of core, foundation, professional, and specialization courses and is equivalent to a master's degree.
  2. B.Ed (2.5 Years) Science Education: This program is a 2.5-year specialization course in science education. It aims to prepare science teachers to teach at different levels of schooling and focuses on developing their understanding of the nature of science, as well as their pedagogical and assessment skills.
  3. B.Ed (4 Years) Specialization in Science Education: This program is a 4-year specialization course in science education offered since 2017. It is offered for all regions of Pakistan in equity basis and in near future will be offered to overseas students. It includes elective subjects of biology, chemistry, mathematics and biology with two combinations in both semesters Spring and Autumn.
  4. B.Ed Elementary Teacher Education (4 years) Early Childhood Education & Elementary Teacher Education: This program is aimed at training teachers who can teach at the elementary level. It is a 4-year program that blends core, foundation, professional, and specialization courses. The teachers trained through this program will be highly qualified and efficient professionals prepared to contribute creatively to the social, cultural, and educational development of a diverse society.
  5. B.Ed Secondary Teacher Education (4 Years) Elementary Teacher Education Early Childhood Education & Elementary Teacher Education: This 4-year program is designed to train teachers who can teach at the secondary and higher secondary levels. It is a composite program blending core, foundation, professional, and specialization courses. The teachers trained through this program will be highly qualified and efficient professionals prepared to contribute creatively to the social, cultural, and educational development of a diverse society.
  6. B.Ed (2.5 Years) Early childhood education & Elementary Teacher Education: This program is offered to prospective/inservice teachers who have completed 14 years of education. It is aimed at grooming and updating their professional development skills, developing pedagogical and content related knowledge, attitude, and skills of the students. The program offers opportunities for improving teaching practice and action research skills through theoretical and practical courses.
  7. B.Ed (1.5 Years) Early childhood education & Elementary Teacher Education: This pre-service teacher education program is designed to equip trainee teachers with sound professional and pedagogical knowledge, disposition, and skills to counter the challenges of the demanding educational market.
